Excel Cell Shows Formula Rather Than Resultant Value

Often, I will enter a formula in the function bar and the calculation is not displayed. It shows the formula itself. This is not caused by the File >> Options >> Advanced >> Display Options for this Worksheet >> Show formulas in cells instead of their calculated results. This is a glitch.

    Relax, Horatio. Simply:
    •Select the cell.
    •Format the cell as “General”.
    •Delete the “=” at the beginning of your formula, and hit Enter.
    •Insert the “=” back into the formula at the beginning.

    Voilà.
